Family Pics

Thanks to my cousin Curt for these beautiful family photos! My grandma turned 80 this weekend and we threw her a surprise party - she had NO idea her entire family was coming to Batesville to surprise her. It was a great weekend and we loved seeing everyone.

The Tree Mural

I have been meaning to post a picture of the beautiful tree my sisters painted in the nursery. They surprised me by doing it while I was in the hospital. : ) Isn't it perfect?

Calvin - 3 weeks old

Playing with daddy

Kisses from mommy

He stares right at us when we talk to him, he definately
recognizes mommy and daddy's voice

Passed out!

Bath time!
Korey and I have enjoyed our third week at home with Calvin! I enoyed being home with him all week after being in Indy for clinicals last Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. I am enjoying my
clinicals this semester at Riley, but I hate being away from him and it's definately not fun leaving for Indianapolis at 5:30 in the morning. One day last week I dragged my way through 8 hours of clinical on a little over 3 hours of sleep. Which, in combination with postpartum hormones and being away from him all day, made for an interesting meltdown around lunch time. Ha. Luckily my fellow new mommy, Kristy, is amazing and talked me through it (she has a 7 week old son and was leaving him for the first time as well). Then on Friday I developed mastitis and went to bed with 102 degree fever. Ohhh mastitis is painful. But by Monday I was feeling much better and I've had a wonderful relaxing week at home. Calvin is still sleeping great at night, he gets up about every 4 hours. Korey wakes up with him around 7 or 8 and lets me sleep in until he ready to eat again. I'm not sure how much he weighs, but it is amazing watching him grow everyday. he feels so heavy now when I lift him up and he looks less like a newborn baby everyday.

Happy Birthday Korey!

We love you so much. Thank you for the time you spend cuddling with and talking to Calvin every day. Thank you for always helping me when I ask you for something, and for offering to get up early in the mornings while I catch up on sleep. Thank you for making me laugh every day and making everything better whenever I am down or stressed out. For 7 years you have been my best friend and now you are an amazing father to our baby boy.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY! I love you. :)

More Pictures!

Calvin is 2 weeks old today. He had his first pediatrician appointment last Friday. (It did not go well, the doctor was a complete jerk... We are looking for another one right now.) But Calvin is healthy and already weighs 8 lbs 14 oz. He was only 7 lb 13 oz the Saturday before at his weight check so he gained a pound last week! I asked the pediatrician about his goopy eyes and he said that he has clogged tear ducts, which will eventually open on their own. Everything else looked great. He is a healthy eater and still sleeping good. I start clinicals tomorrow. : ( Korey and I left Calvin for a few hours this weekend to break me in. I did okay so we'll see how it goes...

Calvin updates - 1 week

Calvin decided he enjoys sleeping for 4 hours at a time throughout the night! It may just be a fluke but the last 2 nights I have had to wake him for his feedings! (The first night I woke up and saw that it had been 4 hours and I freaked out and hurried to check that he was breathing!) He is such a good baby. We have our first pediatrician appointment tomorrow. He still isn't pooping much, I give him a couple formula bottles a day and I've been pumping between feeds to get him ready for next week when I go back to clinicals. We love laying skin-to-skin with him on our chests. That is where he spends most of his time with daddy. I got a Moby wrap and I LOVE it. I wear him on my chest (he's in it now actually) and he just snuggles up and sleeps for hours. And I have both hands free to get stuff done! We have gotten so much help from everyone and really appreciate everything people are doing for us. I can't believe this first week with him flew by so fast!
